Redeemer Installs First Team of Stephen Ministers
After yearlong training, five Redeemer Lutheran Church members Installed as Stephen Ministers
On June 20, 2021, Redeemer installed four Stephen Ministers – Tina Clark, Angela King, Kris Mills, and Rick Shaver along with Stephen Minister leader J.K. Lilly.
The installation, during which the new team promised to faithfully serve the Redeemer family within the context of their training and within their membership of the Lutheran Church, followed a year of training to cover pastoral care situations in which Steven Ministers may find themselves.
Stephen Ministry leaders attend a Leaders Training Course and learn how to recruit and train-up congregation members as capable Stephen Ministers. Stephen Ministers are provided with ongoing supervision and continuing education in order to provide a psychologically sound, biblically based approach to their ministry of caring.
Stephen Ministers might personally offer Christian support for:
the grief of losing a loved one, assist new mothers and fathers, pay personal attention to new members during the week,
attending terminally ill people and their families, encourage those in job crisis, reassure those undergoing major life transitions,
periodically visiting the hospitalized or home bound, friendship for those separated or divorced, stay in touch with the aging and elderly,
attending to victims of disasters.
Stephen Ministry, under the oversight of the Spiritual Care Team (Elders), multiplies the number of caregivers by equipping laypeople to provide high-quality Christian care.
